Sheikh Zayed City, considered one of the modern cities in Egypt, was built based on Decision No. 325 of 1995 issued by the "President of the Arab Republic of Egypt". This was facilitated by the grant provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, making it one of the most famous second-generation cities in Giza Governorate. Administratively, it is part of the New Urban Communities Authority.
Sheikh Zayed City is named after the first President of the UAE, "Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan". It is also considered one of Greater Cairo's suburbs, with an area of about 9500 acres, an elevation of approximately 220 meters above sea level, located about 20 kilometers from Lebanon Square in Mohandessin, and about 28 kilometers from Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo. It is bordered by the extension of the 26th of July Axis, the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, and the 6th of October City. The population is around 150,000 people, and it's expected to reach about 500,000 once fully developed.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Zayed is a fully integrated city with all the services and amenities that contribute to a better quality of life. It has distinguished schools like the British International School and the Canadian International College, and hospitals such as the Specialty Sheikh Zayed Hospital, which is equipped to the highest standards. There are also entertainment and religious places, and vast green spaces that make up 40% of the total city area, giving it a contemporary and distinctive character. Additionally, it has electrical supply and dedicated water treatment plants.
The city is designed impressively into 20 neighborhoods, divided into 4 sectors. Each neighborhood has its own services, including mosques, commercial markets, and service centers. The neighborhoods are classified into various economic levels, with upscale neighborhoods such as the 7th, 8th, and parts of the 9th. There are also middle-class neighborhoods such as the 1st, 3rd, 11th, and 13th, and neighborhoods for those with an above-average economic level, such as the 4th and parts of the 2nd neighborhoods.
The city is also located near a large number of important tourist and service projects, such as Hyper One, Mall of Arabia, and also Dandy Mall. Moreover, there is availability of transportation and job opportunities for young people in the industrial area affiliated with the 6th of October City.
