Damanhur city is the capital of Beheira Governorate in Egypt. It is located in the northwest delta, bordered to the north by Mahmoudiya canal, to the south by Delingat center, to the east by Shubrakhit and Rahmaniya centers, and to the west by Abu Homs center. Damanhur city has been known by several titles such as the City of Victory, the City of Beheira, and the City of Light.
In ancient times, Damanhur city was called "Di Min Hor", which means the City of the God Horus. It was then known as "Behdet", later its name changed to Hermopolis Parva in the Greek era, and then to Tell Belamoon, before being called Tamnhur, and finally named Damanhur after the Islamic conquest of Egypt.
